Afternoon All,
Hopefully an easy answer, I searched the forum but couldn't find a solution. My rear wiper currently sits in the horizontal position how do I change it to the vertical position?
Im assuming I could just take the arm off and change the position but then I'd expect the motor to be in the wrong place?
Can anyone please confirm? Thank you!!

Well you can move it Vertical as you described, but it will only clean the right side of the window as you are watching it move in your rear view mirror missing all things to the left, then it will roll off the glass and scratch the paint, then rip the wiper blade off as it tries to park and scratches the glass.
It is supposed to be horizontal because it doesn't impair vision when parked. Just my two cents, after having a few other type of cars with rear window wipers.

The Mk1 Golf rear wiper is supposed to park vertically, isn't it? If yours is sweeping the correct area, but parking horizontally, I would guess you have either a fault in the wiper motor or potentially the wrong wiper motor fitted

Thanks for the replies guys, I thought that the wiper arm was originally supposed to park vertically like the picture attached:
