Rear seatbelts

Fitting

Guys,

How easy is it to fit rear belts? Are there anchoring points?

I don't really want to do any welding if it can be avoided.

Thanks

Steve

Well Tin top or Drop top?
Seat belts or seat and shoulder?

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

The tin top should have anchorages for 3-point rear seat belts. My parents' 1973 Beetle had them. You should be able to feel for the upper anchorages in the C-pillar through the head lining. Lower anchorages are under or immediately behind the rear seat. Inertia reel mountings, if your car has them, would be in the boot, below the parcel shelf supports. If your car doesn't have inertia reel mounts, you would be restricted to static belts.

The cabrio only has anchorages for 2-point rear seat belts

It's a tin top, 81

I need shoulder belts if I am going to do it. Not sure if they were an option back then?

Yes, according to the parts diagram, it should have, and I think mounts for inertia reels in the boot side walls, though finding compatible inertia reels might be an issue

I have a set of rear belts (with receivers and bolts) for a tintop which you can have to trial fit and pay me the postage if they are ok.
