Hi All,
I've just finished taking out my cage and bucket seats and have started to fit an original interior back in.
I've run into some confusion as I cant seem to work out where the rear sear fits to the floor? I've had a look into the Haynes book of lies and a copy of the workshop manual and nothing is overly clear.
Can someone post up some pictures of the rear seat fitting points and seat belts please before I nail gun it all into place!
Thanks

Year and Model type, as in early or late, and 2 door or 4.
I have 81 Rabbit LS 4door Westy (USA) experience, and the rear seat was a 3 piece affair.
The Seat Back was attached and folded over the bottom.
Attached to the seat back was the parcel shelf.
The seat bottoms were hinged at the front IIRC
The Bottom could Pivot over the front and the parcel shelf on top of that. It was on hinge pins at the sides to allow it to fold up to the back of the front seat backs.
I remember the seats having a clip and pin affair to remove them, or fold it up…..

It's a 82 3 door GTi if that helps?
At the moment I've got the belt mechanism facing outwards as it seemed to work better but get the impression they are meant to face inwards?
As for the hinges, my replacement bench has the hinges but I have nothing to attach it to?? My guess is where they connect has been been removed so I will need to fabricate a replacement?

Wish I could help you more. But my memory is over 17 years old….
IIRC there was like a pull tab in the middle of the seat bottom, that you have to lift up and back a bit before the seat bottom would pivot forward.
