Hello guys got a little issue with the oil pressure gauge, the battery works ok and moves to the voltage, the temp goes to 50 ( degrees ) or a little above, but the oil does move when the ignition comes on all 3 gauges needed have a little jump but that all I get from oil side it just stays on 0, I haven't tested or look at anything so just a few pointers on where to start looking, all help appreciated

Start with the oil pressure switch on the engine it is not uncommon  for them to fail on any car. You may be lucky and have just lost the connection.

From memory there are two a low and high pressure one. They are about £5 each I think so would do both. Think one is on the head at the gbox end and the other is the one on the oil filter. Low pressure near the filter and high on the head I think…. Do a quick Google search and some diagrams will come up.

Just found this it might be the sender not the switch which is 50. https://vwheritage.mobi/GB/page.cfm?iPageID=1341 I am sure some of the more knowledgeable members can help here on deciding best tests to narrow down. Thx

I been looking at the switch, on top of the oil filter, so its the sender that gives you the reading on the gauge ? And the switch ? Just trying to get my head around his it works so I can test or see each thing individually, thanks again backinblack

You need the twin sender. You need to work out which of the original switches you are going to replace with it and what max pressure the gauge expects. Usually you replace the low pressure switch 3.5psi (0.25 bar) and the gauge requires 0 to 150psi (10 bar).

I bought mine from VW Heritage, it was about £50 and I fitted it in the cylinder head. You need to get one that suits your gauge, ie 0-5 bar or 0-10 bar and there is a pressure that the warning light is switched at. This is the one I bought.
