All help more than welcome.
im Dan 👋🏼 I’ve been in to my vw’s forever not ever but you know I’ve owned a few mk1s both cabs and tin top couple mk2’s currently have a t4 part camper and steady lt35 Motorhome and the little princess the 86 cabrio
I have a 1986 mk1 golf gti cabrio which I have had in storage myself for around 12 years
🙈. The car was originally stripped back to a shell baring the window screen and a few bits and bobs seals seat belts pedals not a lot else.
The car was stripped underseal all removed with hours of manual labour and the sanding disc on the grinder by myself then it was blasted by a company and the engine bay and underside of the car were primed in grey….. then everything kind of went pair shaped with the unit I rented and I put it in a friends garage for about three years then moved it somewhere else always only to store and life took over some more as it does I had two fantastic little boys, but again nothing on the car 🥲
well the time has finally come (I think) I’m gunna try press on now over the next six months or so and see if any progress..
so over the last two years I’ve been buying bits here and there, not got everything and that’s partly where you come in my vw friends 👍
what I do have is as follows…
fuel tank and tank straps
filer neck and seal
fuel tank hose
braided fuel hose
full bush kit
new pivot bolts rear subframe
subframe and anti roll bar recently powder coated
rear hubs and bearing
calipers and carriers
discs and pads
copper brake pipe
braided brake hoses
front hubs and bearings
wishbone arms
steering rack
epytec Vr6 full mount kit
loom converted to plug and play (fingers crossed)
mk3 2.8 vr6 engine and gearbox.
wheels (need refurb)
that’s what I can recall whilst sat writing this a lot of other bits needed
could do with maybe finding someone to do chains tensioners on the engine clutch water pump.
im looking for recommendations ideas and info on anything to do with putting the vr6 in the mk1..
cable or hydraulic clutch conversion???? How?? What’s best
same with the gear box????
does the mk3 golf manifold fit when doing this conversion..(maybe a question back to Epytec)
what fuel pump to use on vr6 sat external like on the mk1
im sure I have more questions and things I need to know but please if you feel you can help please do,maybe if your near by or local I wouldn’t be shy of accepting some help obviously in return for at least a butty and a bru…
thanks for sticking with me or skipping to the end either way cheers
