Original colour different from new paint?
Is there anyone in the SW with a Jade Green Golf
I am having some paint and colour is slightly different (lighter) when compared to inside of boot the only original paint left! Not exposed to light so will not have faded after nearly 40 years.
Water based option in the same paint code is closer but still not 100% and would not be original paint as water based was not available in the 80's
Have have put a spectrometer on the original paint and has come up with a 98% match to a Mazda colour
Really want to keep it original as possible.
Anyone local have a car to compare with?
Options are original colour apparently 100% correct or go with the closest colour match with the paint on the car which is the Mazda colour ?
What would you do?

Depends on the manufacturer of the paint to how close to original it is.
It could also be due to their software not being spot on to their display. Worst case is have them mix you up a small quantity and test it, as in a touch up pen or bottle.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.

To add to your woes the new paint will fade at a different rate to the old

Thanks for the replies,
I only needed paint on the is wing and knew colour match would be a challenge.
Whole car being painted so will be okay, just wanted to get the correct colour.
Have done more research and appears there may be differences between paint suppliers and software interpretation of the colour code.
No longer available from VW so guess best bet is to go with the colour identified by the spectrometer
