Well if you have the manifold off you can use a Carb cleaner spray, I would be sure to take care around the throttlebody.

Plug up the vent hole and a good soak in degreaser over night, blast of water down the vent hole washes most of the gunk out then leave to dry before fitting.

Yes iv give it a good soak with de-greaser power washed it all off inside and out. Iv blown down each air hole so should be good to go back , once my new exhaust manifold turns up.

It will get all the pitted black off the manifold and make it look like new.

Going back I opted to use the Stainless Steel exhaust studs from a 1991 Saturn SL, as they has a nut driver head on the end, and I slathered them with never-seize.
Over the next 2 years of ownership I never had an issue with them breaking…and they were easily removed when I replaced my Cracked manifold with a 2-4 manifold.

Make sure that you use an impact wrench as a Socket and breaker bar will torque shear the old ones taking them out, and going back use the copper nuts.

Always fit new nuts when fitting the new manifold.
