Imput please

Hello people
Has anyone fitted the maXpeedingrods 4 Cylinder Carburetor 2 Barrel 38 dgs(I assume its a copy) to their golf I purchased one as I went from injection to carb I brought a new to me manifold brought new gaskets and a new base plate as the old one was too small (bells should have rang then) got it fitted turned the key and it idles a little jolty but runs drive it away on low revs it is like I have fuel blockage so I am assuits fuel mixture but need advice on how to set it up  .  Oh if I boot it it drives great  it's just low speed pulling away and such please advise . (I have done the air leak check and its all good   could the carb be too big I have a 1.8 . Thankyou ..
