High biting point on new clutch and release bearing

Hi all I have had problems with a high biting point it was exactly the same before I changed the clutch and nothing has changed since,

I have adjusted the cable to the max and the biting point is still very high but the first 100mm of pushing the pedal is floppy, :(

My next step is to order a new clutch cable but I'm not sure it would have stretched or frayed 100mm there is a lot of slack somewhere and no sort of adjustment will fix this, I daily my golfie for work so any help would be appreciated,

Thanks for reading, big love 😎

I'm not sure what you mean by floppy. The cable should be adjusted so that there is 15-20 mm of free play at the pedal, not by reference to the biting point.

Regarding the cable, have you checked the bulkhead where the cable passes through to the engine bay? Rust and/or fatigue in the sheet metal here can cause the flange to become loose which plays havoc with operation of the clutch and eventually leads to complete loss of clutch control

Or the clutch cable saws through the cable tube.

I have adjusted the cable so there is 10-12mm of play on it however the bite is terribly high, I've adjusted it so I have a little more play, so that the bite is a little bit lower, I will inspect the bulkhead and cable today to check for any rust or any chewing through the cables, thanks for your help guys il keep you updated 😎

Hi pal I manage to find a new old stock original vw clutch cable to fit my car, I've fitted it and my bulkhead seems completely fine, and yet still my clutch bite is really high, I've ordered a new pushrod maybe that could be the issue, I've heard they can wear down up to 10mm
