Help Need wiring loom advice

Hi all Im in search of some advice or any help whatsoever I have a 1986 mk1 1.6 cabriolet and the previous owner has decided to do some diy on the wiring loom or scotchlock heaven as I call it anyway I am looking to find out if the 1.8 shares the same wiring loom and if the gti does also as I'm looking to find out if any are the same so I can swap it out to be original again any help appreciated thanks guys

depends what loom exactly you need. the 1.8 carb engine loom is the same as 1.6, GTI is not.

lighting loom can use any mk1 from 83 with ce1 fusebox, gti will have extra wires for mfa but you ignore those.

dash looms engine doesnt actually matter as above gti one will have extra wires you ignore. but they changed a bit over the years, the switches and the plugs that go into them can differ. if you get all the matching bits then good to go.

rear loom needs any 83 on cabrio, only thing you need to swap the plug for fuel level sender from your old loom if it came from a post-84 gti

Hi brucyec  ive got dash loom from gli…80 plate removed with all the plugs intact, can't see any cuts on it. Also the rear loom for lights maybe cuts there as was after market lights.
I'll remove the rear also .. 30£ plus postage

Dang… is there any identifying marks to be found on loom. As was later type dash.

the later ones have a big blue and red plug fusebox side A and B in this here CE1 fb piccy
