Place the car in time.
Remove the connector from the Distributor and carefully remove the rubber cover over the pins.
Remove the coil wire.
Loosen the Distributor clamp.
With a DVOM RED on the Green White wire on the Dist.
Ground the other.

Key in and in the run position.

Mark where the Distributor is at the clamp to the block.

Rotate the Dizzy, the Hall sender will go from 11v to 0 then repeat.
When the Hall goes from high to low, or low to hi, the fuel pump will cycle.

I had the plastic hall connector break off the Dizzy, it shorted it to the CASE as there isn't much clearance between the wires and the case.
Well it Killed the car.  It also took out my ICM.

Replaced the ICM and installed my Spare Diz.
The Bentley outlines these test rather well.

key off.

Set the Diz back to your mark.
Tighten the clamp.

Replace the Coil Wire, return the rubber boot.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

I had a problem with my hall sensor. I heard they are a pain to change. I called H&H Ignition Solutions . They said If I sent the dizzy to them they could change the Hall Effect sensor for around £45 or they could refurb the whole dizzy  for around £130, I got them to do this for me. It came back looking like a brand new unit.  Put it in, set the timing and all my problems were gone. I cant recommend them enough.
I Had a V8 Westfield in the past and they converted the points Dizzy to electronic again it worked perfect.  There turn around is impressive too mine took just over a week.

Thank Brian, I did a similar dizzy test using another known good dizzy by plugging the 3 pin plug into the spare dizzy and with ignition on turned it by hand and checked for spark.. Didn't get a spark..  After this test I cleaned up all the connections on the ignition coil and the ignition control module..  Seemed to sort the problem althoughi have also replaced a faulty battery under its 3 yr guarantee too
