I personally would clean the plastic underneath on the grille, then use a clear or black bead of silicone RTV on the inside of the trim, place it on the car secure it with tape for 24 hours and it won't come off.

Here is a rear badge that held on after collision. Yes Black RTV.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Ouch!  :o

I think Gooner615 is referring to a GTI front grill.
That red beading can get hard/brittle over time and become lose and even fall off.

Not sure but you maybe able to get a new replacement one. So I'd try www.werk34.de as they do a lot of trim parts.

People do glue them back but it depends a lot on the condition of it as to how successful it is.
Some I've seen have just left it off and painted the red on by hand!

It's not cheap as you would imagine but maybe other companies do it. Although these guys do good stuff I've found.

As long as the red trim still has the little lugs (see picture) that bend against the plastic part of the grille you should be fine. They usually get bent out of shape when being removed, shouldn't need more than your fingers to press them against the grille to hold tight.

If your trim is a bit 'wonky' you can get an Allen key (7mm I think..) lie it down in the reverse side of the trim and tap it gently to even out any bumps.

Paint it Mars Red 1.

Alternatively go ant buy some new, but not as satisfying.

As Richard Hall said and shown in photo, there's tabs which you fold round the back of the grill line you are attaching to. They won't fold all the way round but enough to hold them on.
