Golf mk1 agu turbo oil pressure switches

Post

Hello all, I have a golf mk1 with a 1800 turbo engine code is agu, the car runs standard vw ecu , now the oil light and buzzer start flashing and sounding when the revs are over 2000rpm, the oil cooler has 2 ports in it with one taken with the low pressure switch which is black I believe, the other is blanked, now after reading various posts I think I need the white high pressure switch fitting in the space of the blank, , the question is where does this switch need wiring too?
Thanks in advance

yep you need a white 1.8bar switch, put it where the low 0.3bar switch is now and move the low switch to the blanked port.

the 0.3 bar switch wire should be yellow, the high should be blue/black, follow your conversion loom back till you find it in your harness. you'll probably find it behind the fusebox or tucked into the harness in the bay somewhere, depending on who made the loom for you

Hi thanks for the reply, as you stand at the front of the car looking at the oil cooler the turbo feed pipe is on the front of the oil cooler, there is a port to the left of the feed pipe which currently has a black oil pressure switch in it and then to the right of the Oil feed pipe there is another port which has a white pressure switch in it , are these the correct way around?
Thanks in advance

Ok great so that is the way I have them, now the engine installer has wired the black pressure switch which I gather monitors the engine up to approx 2000 rpm, the white switch monitors the pressure above approx 2000 rpm, I have had a look at the ce1 wiring loom and looking for the high pressure oil switch wiring in either plug d21 engine wiring or b14 dashboard wiring, neither of those plugs have a wire in them, I have looked at the plugs into the clocks and tried wiring it direct to the yellow but it just puts the oil warning light on the dash, the black pressure sensor is wired I just don't know where to wire the white pressure sensor, so the light does not come on over 2000 rpm, any ideas?
Many thanks in advance

Some looms the yellow oil pressure warning wire is on a spade near the fusebox rather than thru it, make sure you have this yellow wire to the 0.3 bar switch. if its correct the oil light should flash with ignition, then go out when running. This should be on pin 11 of the clocks.

the 1.8 bar switch blue/black wire  goes to D/1, then A/4 in the clock loom, back to pin 9 on the clocks

Ok this now makes sense, I think the black 0.3 bar switch is wired through the black and blue loom, if I'm unable to locate the wires at the fuse board end is there any harm in wiring the pressure switches directly to the wires where they enter the clocks
Thanks for your help

not a problem, if you crimp a male spade on the end of the clocks yellow wire that will replicate how VW did it OEM. to be 100000% oem it needs to be a latched spade, in a VW plastic spade housing :P
