Took a friend in the car tonight and he could not find reverse. While pushing down on the gear leaver it sort of fell through the floor.
Is the the oval ball joint piece on vw heritage or something else. Need to order and fit parts urgently for mot before the AGM.
Thanks for your input

It's worth it, it'll feel so much better.

In neutral the gear stick needs to be centred on the plate that the plastic hook goes against and 15mm off it.
Get everything in and secured except the collar clamp that goes onto the end of the long shift rod that goes back to the gear stick
Get a little piece of wood or something similar and place it against the metal plate (you'll see hoe the hook goes under the plate when you press down to get reverse) and then measure and centre the gear selector.
Then do up the collar tight onto the end of the selector. A help is useful to hold the gear stick in position if you can find one.
Should then work ok. It'll either take 2 mins or all day.
Good luck

Unfortunately no circlip in the kit I received and the ebayer does not seem bothered.
Anyone know the exact circlip size so I can order one.
At least it’s drivable for now though
