Gear Selector Lever - 4 speed

The splines on my 4 speed gear selector lever (the part that the shift rod pushes into) have completely worn off leaving me with no gears yet again.

Can I get one of these new, I can't find any doing a search of the usual places, has anyone got a spare in good condition or can splines be re-made?

If the shift rod is the same on a 4 speed and a 5 speed then I may be able to modify a 5 speed selector lever to fit

is it the long rod type thing you need?

No, it's the bit the shift rod pushes into at the engine end… it the bracket shaped like a 'b'

Just in case anyone has one lying around, I'm after one of these with decent splines in the hole please

i have one but they don't have splines

They are similar to the Wiper shafts.
That is the wiper arm is plain, and the shaft is splined.

What you need to do is to Brush the splines on the shaft free of metal shavings or corrosion.

Polish the inside of the link.
Where the link uses the "Pinch" to tighten it, you may want to file the slotted opening a little to get more bite.

Go back to using a new grade 8 or 10 bolt with a cupped washer Belleville Washer, then tighten to the correct torque.  It could be that your bolt is worn on the threads and not holding torque sufficiently.
