Also the plastics which clip around the edge of the tank i don't seem to be able to find, think they're discontinued?
After taking the fuel level sender out of the tank the metal bar to the float is badly corroded. Planning on making a replacement but not sure what material would be best?
Any tips appreciated. Cheers

For padding the straps, I would use a product that you can get at a HOME Improvement Store. It is Foil Backed Self Sticky roofer tape, it is about 6 inches wide.
It is water proof and in strips on the top will deaden noise. You can pad the straps or the tank where the straps go.
It cuts in strips and sticks well.

I've got a similar thing with my tank sender unit, it's a bit corroded too, but after having a quick look around I can only find GTI style lifter pump / sender unit combo's and they're ridiculous money used. I'd use a bit of aluminium wire if you can find it for the float wire
I have the plastics on my tnak and can take some dims and pics if it'd help? Make something of a similar size from a block of HDPE if you can find some or use some blue water pipe and split it and clip it on.
