Fuel Pump Relay 1.8GTI. Any suggestions for a suitable and reliable replacement?

When I bought my Golf GTI last year it had a replacement fuel pump relay already fitted (and the original relay was in the glove box). As I had a fair bit of work trying to get the car running right I removed the relay several times and noticed one of the pins was slightly loose so I bought a replacement from a VW specialist in January, a Topran relay and kept the other as a spare in the glove box. I went out tonight and did around 20 miles and had to pick my son up from somewhere and the car wouldn't start and the fuel pump wasn't purging so I fitted the spare relay and off she went!
I will be in touch with the supplier about replacing the faulty relay but I was wondering how reliable these Topran relays are or was I just unlucky?
I'm also looking for suggestions about what is a good reliable replacement and what other people have used.
Cheers.
Matt.

My car has suffered from intermittent starting issues for years. I've tried 2 metering heads with no luck.
A new fuel pump relay was been fitted and (fingers crossed) the issue hasn't occurred again - yet,

Thanks for the reply, what relay did you fit and where did you get it?
I'll be contacting the supplier this morning anyway but I'm not sure I want another Topran relay now that this one has failed!
I had started to notice cold starting problems in the last few weeks, nothing serious but it seemed to turn over a lot longer than usual (it always started almost immediatly) so it will be interesting to see if that is sorted!

Not all Fuel Pump relays are the same, the Digi cars are more forgiving, and I have seen a ton of Aftermarket that aren't up to spec.
Kammy at www.cabby-info.com has the partnumbers of the ones that tend to be ok.

That is the same as the one I bought! looking at the VW Heritage website it's for a JH engine whereas mines a DX! What is the difference between a DX and a JH engine? Your original relay is the same part number as my original relay!
Thanks for the help.
