Fuel gauge still not working

Had a long frustrating ride with the electrics on my Campaign with it being stood so long.
One of the last job really was the LCD readout not behaving - I've taken the executive decision to leave it alone.(for now anyway).
The other last/biggy job was the fuel gauge which gave no reading. I've put a 9v battery over the screws holding gauge (with aid an additional length of wire) behind cluster and gauge moved out to 3/4 so that was ok. I've cleaned the connections of the fuel gauge nuts to the myler with electrical contact cleaner. I also got a reading of 9.89v and 10.05v on the 10v stabiliser - checked it twice.
Guess only issue is a break in the violet/black wire between the fuel sender and the instrument multiplug - or - the sender itself is in-op.

Could be the sender. I had to give the wiper and resistive contact strip a really good clean after mine had been sat for years. You can test it with a meter.

Take the sender plug off.
Using the 9Vdc battery place the ground on the brown wire, and the + on the violet.
or measure the resistance between the pin on the connector to the back of the gauge or violet wire to the connector.
Your gauge should be at 3/4 of a tank. If not then wiring issue.
If it moves then it is the sender.
Here is a how to link about looking into repairing your sender.

Your sending unit is varying the ground potential to your meter. So make sure that you have a good ground to the sender plate.

Well got it working at last.
3 things :
Faulty sender unit in tank
Wiring issue between plug and fuse box
Still got MFA to sort 😏

I've given up on lcd for now Briano
I've done new earths and checked and checked again.
Sure it'll be something stupid but was getting tired of it so left it for now.

There are threads on here about fixing the MFA or the LCD clock panel.
