Mk1 Golf Gti 1.8 DX engine Fuel Distributor help

I have a 1983 1.8 gti, currently being rebuilt,  all the fuel system has been replaced apart from the fuel distributor, the mechanic said no fuel is coming through the Fuel distributor.
I have searched online for 1  the part number of the 1 I have (0438100121)  brings up a Bosch fuel distributor for a ford xr3i. This part was fitted to the car for a number of years before it came of the road.
Does anyone have the original  part number for the 1983 DX engine?
Does anyone know a place I can send it off to be refurbished or renewed?

The mechanic said everything else is working ok.
The car has burnt out 3 fuel pump relays trying to diagnose or get this sorted, would a knackered fuel distributor cause this to happen?
He said on 1 occasion the fuel pump stayed on and the bores got filled with petrol, said the plunger was stuck. The plunger now moves but no fuel comes through.
Sorry for my poor explanation I am not mechanically minded
Any help is appreciated
Thanks in advance

You can buy kits to rebuild yourself. I got mine off ebay. German seller called missing.parts.very helpful chap, supplies full instructions. Chap on here did his recently on same advice. I did mine, all good! There is a you tube video as well by Retro VW. It's a mk2 but principles the same.

My rebuild thread I will try and keep up to date: here

I used KMI Injection. Expensive, but they are the real experts in Bosch Jetronic and provide warranty on their workmanship.

I had both my fuel metering head and warm up regulator overhauled by them.

Forgot to mention, I had issues with my fuel pump relays burning, I found 2 issues, my metal sunroof drain pipe was leaking inside the body causing dampness and corrosion in the fusebox and also my fuel pump was on its way out ans was noisy. Since fixing these two issues, its been ok.

I personally would suggest carrying out the fuel tests as per the Haynes manual before spending a lot of money on replacing or overhauling parts. The brown Haynes manual is really good.

Best to check the fuel metering plunger, auxillary air valve, air sense plate, injector spray and do the pressure test as per the manual.

Build time approx. 4 weeks. Return UK shipping £12.00 + vat.
