Rubbing rear arches
Hi. I'm just looking for some answers to why my 15inch Estoril alloy wheels are catching on rear arches of my clipper golf, I had the bottle top 14 inch alloys precious as I know these Estoril are wider i still thought they would be fine, maybe my shocks are shot an to soft I dont know. Any advise greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks Ian for reply. It catches with just me in the car, the car seems to look slightly lower at the rear for some reason the tyres are 195/50/15. Thanks again.

Have you a better side picture?
P.S you need your roof sorting out (side tension cables) or a new roof as it should not look like that….

Here is a better picture from the side. The back does look lower for some reason.

Looks like old and saggy springs to me.
Still shouldn't rub though as the offset and width aren't much different to the standard wheels
The metal arches don't have a lip at the top on the cabbies so if you just want to stop it rubbing (and do it ghetto style) take a good solid sharp knife and gently cut away at the inside edge of the plastic arch. Do it gently by shaving it and try the car again. Rinse and repeat until no rubbing occurs.
But obviously new springs and shocks would be a better fix

BTW I'm assuming it's rubbing on the plastic arches. Double check the inside edge of the tyre to confirm it's not catching anything in side the arch first!
You should also see some marks on either the tyre of the car somewhere to indicate what's catching

Thank you Ian much appreciated. A full set of shocks and springs is a must and if need be a bit of a shave inside arches. Thanks all for your help.
