Evening all. Has anyone any hints as to why my temp light flashes from start permanently and continues til up to temperature but doesn't overheat?
This has started happening recently but only 1 out of 3 drive outs otherwise no light and runs good with fan kicking in when it should.
Temp sensor switch was renewed about 2 years ago.
Thanks👍

The light flashes if there’s low coolant level so check the level before doing anything else.
The sensor for the flashing light is in the coolant expansion tank, remove the electrical connector and check it's not gone rusty inside the connector.
If it's ok remove the sensor from the expansion tank and clean up the 2 metal probes on the end as they can go crusty over time.
Go carefully removing and installing the sensor back in the expansion tank as it's a plastic screw thread in a plastic bottle, I did had to wrap a bit of PTFE on the threads to seal mine.

Cheers Mark. Pretty sure coolant level is correct and the plug is in good order but will double check tomorrow. Good starting point so I'll let you know.
Thanks
Thanks

The coolant sensor has two probes ends that can get Scale or calcification on the ends it is wise to clean them up a wee bit. Also if your coolant gets low, and you have the older style of res, it doesn't have the air bubble hole at the top so you coolant can be prevented from reaching the probes. Last but n least it only works correctly with a 50/50 mix of coolant to distilled water.

Does your car have a coolant level sensor (in the coolant reservoir)? If so the light will flash for low coolant. There is also a relay involved in this circuit.
If the temp sender, level sender and relay are all good it is very likely that the guage has gone bad. There is a capacitor on that board that can fail with age and cause issues. Check everything else first as that isn't an easy job to replace (compared to the rest).
