Hi all, I have a 1991 Gti DX engine I wanted to know how easy it is to do an engine mount timing belt side, as mine has deteriorated. I have took the mount bolt out but there are 4 Allen key bolts holding the bush mount attached to the engine. Any advice is much appreciated.

BIG hint, on the 2 rear bolts on the mounting bracket.
replace them with hex headed bolts the same length and grade 8 0r better. WAY easier to get in and out the next time.
Also whilst you are doing the timing belt you might as well do the water pump.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

Settling In

Is a lot of work
Timing belt and pulleys need to come off.
I think on mine I even had to remove the alternator.
Next is to get the bush out of the bracket.
Than new one to be pressed in bracket for which a hydraulic press is needed
Than re-assemble everything
Success
Mine was running a lot more silent with the new silent block
