Upgrade
Hi all i have a std 1.8 mk1 cab but want to upgrade my engine so looking for a donor engine pref 1.8t or gti anbody help of where to get one cheers.

I guess you have a carb engine in the car?
Easier and cheaper to fit a Gti engine compared to a turbo engine, both engine upgrades will need a different fuel tank an fuel lines.
The turbo engine will be a lot quicker then the Gti engine but it will require a lot more electrical work.
You will gain an extra 22 bhp from a Gti engine and an extra 100 bhp ish from a turbo engine so it's a good idea to upgrade the brakes as well if a turbo is your choice.

Yeah mate its a carb. Turbo would b pref but wouldnt mind gti either witch as u say is easier n cheaper option. But need to find sombody to do conversion for me n an udea of what the cost.sombody close to birmingham wud b ideal. Also i have noticed tin noise n whistling noise when in 3rd n 4rth gear any ideas???

I would check your tranny oil level.
The noise could be a bad tranny mount and something hitting the moving parts.
Last is Self Machining Syndrome where the Rivets of the differential loosen and scrape through the tranny case.
