Electric Distributor

Hello All,

I ordered a new distributor for the MK1 Golf and the new one looks like an electoral igniton [my wording maybe well off so apologies]

The GTI looks like it uses this method, my GL 1983 looks to be just one electrical connection.

So the question is can I fit it if I find connections for the additional wires? Looks like you can buy the connector off Ebay.

Any help is much appreciated

Hi, the carb and injection distributor should be both hall system ie electronic.
Perhaps list you engine code and pictures of the old one.
Even vw transporter in 1982 was electronic.
The oval connector was used to 1985 ish then square.
