Door rubber between A Pillar & Door

Post

On doing my car to get every worn nook & cranny replaced/renewed, the rubber 'bellow' between the A pillar & Door is worn… so. on the later cabbys <87/88 they were a simple 1 piece fitting.. on the earlier cabbys, like mine, there are 2 grommets, 1 on the A pillar & 1 on the door & a small rubber hose which covers the speaker wires complete & fits through the grommets.
I tried to chase the rubber through the door etc, taking the speaker/cover off… & it seems like i have to take off the door car etc to replace the rubber as it's not a hanging loose through the door to the speaker. :| I've got the rubber hose - 1m of it.
does anyone know of an easier way of doing this without taking the door card off???? if not then it's gonna be an hour job to do 2 doors, not a 10 minute job…

You are going to have to remove the door car to disconnect the wires to feed through the hose.

The wires are tie-wrapped to the door frame to hold them in check, and that has to be cut and replaced.

Then I would grease the hell out of the grommets with Vaseline or your preferred lube to get the hose to slide in to the grommet, be sure that you extend the hose about a inch and a half inside each of the grommet so that when you open or close the door it won't pull out.

I have a later 90 cabby, and had to repair the wires to my window motors last week, and while I have the bellow type it still was  PITA..getting the bellows back in to the "A" pillar and Door frame.

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
