door quarters

hello there!i have recently bought a mk1 gti project!loys of bits missing as usual!lol
anyway the doors do not have the quarter glass and frame in them!are they mk2 doors?or can you put them back in?
sorry it maybe the numpty question of the day ,but new tp vw golfs!

Are you talking about the Vent Windows in the front doors?  

VW sold the Cars based on the trim version, Cheap trim no vents but solid glass, higher trim level they installed the vent wings.

Yes you can instal movable Vents, you can get a set of glass and frames from the Salvage yard nearest you (breakers)… Usually the Vent windows were standards on Cabriolets, or Golf Verts.   The window seals are pricey to re-new….



The second screw on the Cabriolet is under the finger seal.  The later 82.5 wings are bolted on and the preferred ones to use.

sounds like the doors have been stripped and just need the frame put back in, mk2 doors dont fit

thanks all!yes i did mean vent windows!my car is a gti tin top and doors have been striped down for respray!but the last owner cannot find them as wellas a lot of other things!doh!lol
