There are threads on Cabby-info.com that tells you how to modify that, and then connect it to a larger diameter pipe (PVC) that is secured Behind the back side of the grille.

Destroyed foam cold air intake - what to replace with?
Early cabs and the carbed versions were plastic.
It seems later cabs had these spiral wire covered sponge pipes.
