Rewiring and replacing courtesy light
I found that a mouse has eaten the cable above the headlining so I have been pulling a new wire from the drivers door switch to the light above the passenger door. It's not a ten minute job!. I then bought a new courtesy light from Heritage as the old one has disintegrated, unfortunately I seem to have chosen a light which is wider than the original, despite Heritage saying it is for my year model. Heritage do do another Hella light for the same model and year, but is three times as expensive. There is no indication of the width, so I don't quite know what the problem is. I have decided the best way forward is to use a Dremel and cut the lamp aperture 4 mm wider to fit the light I have. The length is fine and the electrical connections are the same size and location as my broken original lamp. I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem and fettled the light aperture to fit?
Apparently this vehicle was sitting outside in a field for seven years, so plenty of time for nest building and wire munching. I had mice nests in both the sills, fortunately the sills had to be replaced so the nest material was removed along with the old sills. Stored vehicles seem to be very prone to rodent damage so it pays to keep plenty of rat/mouse poison around and in vehicles. Alternately have your BANNED WORD cat's bed in the garage, cuts down on cat food as well.

I used 823-947-105/B/GEN from Heritage, which was supposed to fit. I suspect that 111-947-111/E / might have fitted exactly, but as the width isn't stated it would be pot luck.

Knowing the year and model is a help to us.
As the US westy (rabbits) used a square one in the middle of the headliner, whereas the Cabriolets (verts) had one at the front windscreen.
If yours was a front wind screen then you might want to look at:
