Clutch cable hole In the bulk head ?
I have seen these on eBay but don't know if this is viable being adhesive. Might be worth a try as a longer term temporary measure perhaps??

You will be ok if the hole you made is not to big, if it is you need to get it repaired/ welded properly, inlet / exhaust manifold needs to come off to make room and carpet etc out from inside.
I know it's now a little to late for you but If anyone else is reading this and does not have a plate fitted even though the bulk head looks ok… FIT ONE NOW! it's just a matter of time before the original bulk head gives way as it's just a rubbish design by VW.
£20 plate now will save alot of time and effort later on.

If you are that concerned drill a couple of pilot holes and stick some self tappers in.
