Cigarette and ashtray bulb change

Help , I have no illumination on the ashtray and cigarette lighter on our 1987, Mk1 cabriolet. I have power at the cigarette lighter there is what appears to be a bulb holder between the cigarette lighter and the ashtray and have tried to separate, but these do not appear to want to come apart. Before I foresee issue. Does anyone have any experience on how bulbs are replaced?

I've tried to research and appears that some as tray illumination have a bulb holder, whilst others are fixed

I also have a three pin connector which is no longer connected to anything served by a green and purple wire, which remains in the loom another green and purple wire, which has been clipped together to black (grounds?). Any ideas?
