Does anyone have any decent pics of the carpet strips that were originally in the wheel well and over the rear light loom.?
If there were any measurements that would be great but even just a pic will do as i want to try and use some offcuts to recreate the original ones.
Thanks

What I hated on my Cabriolet, was the Carpet had a Depression where the Spare was, so I got a 1/4" piece of plywood, and made a cover for the bottom of the boot Cut to fit, so the Carpet laid over it, and then no more spare depression. Oh, and I did Varnish the Hades out of it all six sides. Made the Trunk a nicer thing to look at.
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

Does this picture help?
Unfortunately I don't have measurements as it a "job to do" for me.

Thanks Dano, had it in my head they were thicker than that. Some posh straps in that pic also. Not got those.
Its also the 2 bits of carpet trim that covers the rear light loom that i was after also.
cheers

Car's a shell at the moment… but kept these back to do what you're probably planning and use them as a template to get some new ones made up when the time comes.
No reason to doubt they aren't the original stuff… though they do smack of being off-cuts of floor carpet from a lesser model, but maybe that's what VW did?
When I was retrimming the front seats we found strips of cloth made from the courser Golf 'C' seat material put in vulnerable places to act as protection where there'd be frame on bolster contact.
The larger piece (there's 2) goes over the rear light loom in the same way that those in Danos image do.
The thinner strip (3 of) is the wheel well one.

Thats brilliant Thanks very much.
I work for an exhibition company and the cheap dark grey felty carpet we use seemed an ideal match for these strips.
I'll knock some up and see how they look
Thanks again

No probs. Do you need the larger pieces too that cover the loom? I'll take a pic of the material so you can take a look.
