I have one of these for another car, highly recommend. Not sure if they do one for the MK1

I've been using the Halfords ones and very pleased. Only problem which will go for any cover is cats like to claw it. I ended up buying a second one to go underneath. I'd also recommend the moisture absorber for inside the car. I'll try and find a link. Buy two so you can swap them over. For the money they are a must.

This is the sort of thing. I've always got one in the car and swap them over from time to time.

I have a 5 ply cover for mine there about £150 or so.
The car goes into a old garage which is about 200 years old.
No heating and gaps at the top an bottom of the doors, it's on a farm in Austria.
But to prevent moisture and dampness I open the windows 2 inches before I put the cover on and in five Austrian winters I've never had a problem come spring, bone dry! 😉 👍🏼

to be honest I never cover my cabby. When I did i was forever putting it back on as the wind often blew it about. Later I found lots of scratches and moisture trapped under it.
So long as your roof don't leak all's good.
i use a Kampa Damp Buster inside mine to trap any moisture.
you can also get a carccon if you're feeling flush.
