Hi,
Wanted to remove the outside adjustable mirrors for repaint but I can't seem to fold them, they won't budge either way and I feel no play. Is there any trick to it? I never folded them before, they've been in that position for a good +10 years. What kind of force can they take before I break something? The car is 1985 cabrio.

If yours are same design as mine, they do fold. Mines were super stiff. Like the first time I move it I thought I had broken it, it was that tight and sounded like crack when I moved it. After that they worked fine. I cleaned em up and painted em.
