Caddy headliner

I’m fitting a new headliner in my caddy.
has anyone done this job before?
my query basically is that the section on both B pillars looks like the headliner will need to stretch by about 50mm each side, for the pillar bits with the piece of hardboard sewn in to be able to locate in the bracket bits, if that makes sense…. (See image)
will the headliner really stretch by that much? Or am I doing something wrong?
