Need a cabriolet hood if anyone knows of any for sale? Struggling to afford a new one so a second hand one in good condition would be ideal.

Not worth fitting old stuff on.
You don't know how well it's been looked after, treated etc, so you'll end up spending more on old roofs that won't last than buying a new one.
New one will last you a long time. Compared to keep putting old ones on and the time and effort required it's false economy IMHO.
I see this a lot and often see folks replacing old for old then for a new costing a lot more.
There's other things to take into consideration if your buying old on a frame then there's three different frames, so getting the right one for your car is important.
Plus it's other stuff like the headliner and the interliner and padding. You might find a good roof but the inards are rubbish compared to what's on the car now.
So then it would be a case of stripping two old roofs down finding the best bits and rebuilding.
The risk of damaging stuff beyond reasonable use is higher and long labour time too.
Old roofs split and tears easily form.
You'd need new cables and seals at minimum. Old cables stretch so you can get a poor fit.
Depends on what finish you really want and budget.
Prices I've seen for old roofs can be up to £300.00 with no garuntee of how long they will last.
I've got two brand new mohair tops left over from fitting season.
1 blue and 1 black.
Plus cables in stock.
If you're interested send me a PM.

Been there done it, spent the money, got the T shirt lol..
I understand the cost issues a new roof isn't cheap. But it's value added on your car.
A big plus or minus on selling or buying a cabby.

Oldie but goodie, you get what you pay for! 😂
Saw a complete hood for sale this morning here in Austria.
Still fitted to a write off.
Lots of clear photos with a black mohair.
Total crappo but the guy wants €400 for it, collection only of course.
So £300 for a frame of some kind and condition! 😉

Yep
It's pot luck what you get.
I've seen just about it all over the years.
Sellers saying the roofs are good and new.
Then I've seen them lol and they nothing of the sort and if someone tells you it's a recent fitted one ask for the receipt or the fitters details.
It's about folks budget though. Not everyone has the money upfront on a big spend. Mend and make do.
Roofs don't have to be expensive if you're prepared to fit yourself.
It's time consuming and fiddley sure but it's time well spent.
Lol… One guy I explained the costs too, said but I've seen some BBS Wheels and they're about a grand!!!!
So off he went with two yogurt pots on string hanging off his roof handles to catch the rain and a tray on the parcel shelf with kitchen roll to catch the drips from the rear window frame, coupled with the dirty old bath towels covering his water stained seats it was a odd sight to see….
Nice wheels, but a wrecked interior and ruined roof isn't a fair trade.
The bloke had kids and I said if the roof on your house had a hole in it would you make your kid sleep with a bowl on the end of their bed to catch the rain, because you wanted a pair of expensive trainers?
Bit of an odd analogy I know..
