Uj question and advice
I'm nearly there. I've had to chop a hole in the lower bulkhead for the high pressure pipe and weld the gear linkage to the rack.
It came with a shortened UJ but where it clamps to the rack is too long, I'm wondering if there's a shorter piece I can use? I don't really want to make the hole bigger. I've looked at a polo one on eBay which looks similar design to the original mk1 uj. The mk1 is obviously a too smaller spline.

I'm looking also at the reservoir. I've got a mk2 one and bracket but I don't want to use that one as it's position is different and the shape is different. Instead I've got a T4 one and I'm going for the factory position next to the rad, now the mk2 bracket I'm going to chop and concoct something to fit where it should. Has anyone got a pic of the bracket? Maybe someone with a lhd can send a couple pictures? Please, cheers

Ok so now I've used a polo UJ, I've dismantled the roller bearings off the mk1 column and put them together. The polo uj is extendable which is really easy to work with but I'm still only a few mm from the edge so I think I'm going to have to trim the hole in the end anyway.

I'll post a couple of pics at the weekend. Before I start on the RHD starlet rack conversion….

Power steering fully functional and works perfectly!
Used a T4 reservoir, mk2 bracket chopped and welded to fit in what I think is the factory position
