Ok I get I am being a bit work shy here.
My golf is now ready to receive some love after buying it 10 months ago. It has coil overs on it wound way too low. QUESTION anyone take an educated guess to the c spanner size or do I have to get out in the cold and take a wheel off the measure it.
Thanks
Ps mk1 golf 1980 1.6 GTI.

Yup chuck loads of WD40 or your preferred penetrating oil over them and leave for a good few hours or days. Then clean all the threrads with a tooth brush.
There are a couple of sizes iirc. There are also the 'adjustable' ones, where the hooky bit is on a bolt so it moves and 'adjusts' to the ring size.
The other point to consider is that if you have locking rings they are normally a smaller size to the main spring holder ring. So you may need two spanners to be able to unlock the two rings from each other
Wrap up warm you big jessie and get out there and have a proper look!

C spanner size
They were on the car when I brought it. I am guessing 2.5 to 3 inch is the size I need but would love some people to say what size collars they have. Don't have loads of room to easily jack and remove wheels so only really want to do it once as from what I can tell I have to online order the spanner as Halfords or similar don't seem to stock them. Thx
