Boot Discoveries / Questions

Evening!

As I was replacing the boot side panels in my "new-to-me" 91 Cabriolet 1.8 (electric roof), I saw that there were a couple of wires that weren't connected to anything. Please see below. Any ideas what these should be attached to? Should I be worried (everything roof-related seems to be working well, but I do not have boot light that I is meant to be installed there (ordered)):



Also, I found these in the boot and have no idea what they are (left from the previous owner). Any idea? Should I keep these?

The round flexicap item is a broken temporary fuel cap. Now fit for recycling.

Those wires should be connected. Blue to blue, green to green. They prevent the roof from being used with the ignition turned on. The roof should only work with key in in ignition and not turned. I assume yours works with the car running? This has been done because there is either a problem or the the previous owner wanted it to be like this, which is not recommended.

A lot of cars with electric roofs will only work with the engine running so the battery isn't drained with use of the roof. Mind you they normally have a circuit to the handbrake instead.

I'd leave it as it is. But I'd prefer to only use the roof with the engine running.

Thanks so much! I wish it were linked to the handbrake as I find it odd to have to have the car turned off to raise or lower the roof. Would prefer to do it parked, with the engine on!

Forgot to mention that it also serves a second function. When the tonneau cover is fitted , it prevents the roof from working.
