Bolts that hold the ignition coil on

Post

I have just changed my ignition coil by undoing the bolts that hold it onto the bulkhead......is it normal that the nuts fall down behind the dashboard when you undo these bolts?!

Yes. Lift off the scuttle tray and you'll find them. There should be a washer for each one as well.

Ahhhh……a simple solution. Knew I should not have done this in the dark!! Didn't solve the misfire problem I have either!!
Thanks buddy.

Don't forget the earth lead. Misfire, what is your engine spec.?

1.8 on a weber carburettor.
It runs for a very short while and then starts misfiring, and then misfire gets so bad that it is almost impossible to keep it running and any press on the throttle kills it.
Misfire gets so bad after approx 1 min that it sounds like it is only running on one or two cylinders, with engine rocking all over the place.
My rev counter does odd things, it drops like a stone to zero but the engine just about keeps running.
I suspected coil…..but changing that made no difference…..going to try the ignition control module next.

Have a look through old threads for information re your problem. It might be worth starting a new post for this problem. Isit a new car to you and do you know much of the service history.?

Hi mate.
Yes I've had the car approx 20 years and never had a problem like this until this week.
Don't use it much during the winter and just start it up and move it every so often. Started it earlier this week, left it running for an hour and all was fine……but yesterday this problem occurred.
Going to fit a new ignition control module tomorrow and if this doesn't sort it I think I will take your advise and start a new thread.
I have had a quick look through old posts and can't find anything that gives me much to go on…..possibly think it could be the distributor hall sender….but just clutching at straws really.
