Blue engine block mk1

Hello, I'm wondering if someone can shed some light on my mk1 engine.

it has a blue block and a small plate coming out of the block which is stamped bm360

any info would be great.

Gti Engineering painted the blocks of some of their conversions blue but there'll be other visual indicators it's their work such as an additional VIN style plate on the front slam panel.

The block itself will also have the conversion type stamped onto it, not on a tab such as you describe.

BM360 isn't a number I recognise as theirs, but that doesn't mean anything. Brian Ricketts Motorsport (BRM) evolved from GTiEngineering, have you read the number correctly?

Coincidentally if you Google BM360 it comes up as a (non OEM VW) catalogue number for the head gasket on various Golf MK1/2 + Audis.
