I have an 87 Cabby, it's well serviced and well looked after. I've replaced the carb gasket and fuel filter within the last 100 miles I also had it tuned (by someone who knows what they are doing) the car runs spot on but if I put my foot down, not driving mad something around 50 - 55 mph I get a really bad smell of petrol. I can't find any leaks, there's nothing on the floor where I park so it's not dripping from a fuel line, my inlet manifold is dry. I'm lost and would appreciate any input

Are the rubber pipes in good condition?
I've had experience with some of eBays petrol tubing perishing after a very short time.
If your smelling it when you're booting it i would say it's from under the bonnet, the smell coming through the vents . In my opinion.

Try wiggling some of the fuel lines whilst its running.
I had this on my carbed cabby. The fuel line into the carb was rotten on mine but only leaked when the engine was running and vibrating. Be careful though ! Maybe have someone at hand to cut the engine if the pipe splits !!

Cheers for the advice, all the pies seem ok but I have no idea how long they have been on the car so it's well worth a look.
