Accelerator pedal

Hi All–possibly a contender for stupid question of the day but, for a while now, my accelerator pedal has felt "wobbly" when I press it.  Checked it out and the metal plate which attaches to the body of the car (see bad pic, top left) seems to be unstuck on the left hand side.

So, my question is: am I correct in assuming that it need to be securely re-fixed to the body?  If so, any suggestions on doing this?

Looks corroded at the back…..may require to be welded again.

Do you have any damp under the carpet or water coming into the cabin which may have caused this?

will sort the problem mate

Thanks for the help. Will get it fixed. Fortunately no damp in the area of the fixing (that I can tell, anyway).
