A pillar trim removal

Hi everyone, does anyone know how to remove the black a pillar trim on a 83 gti? They have become very sun faded and was looking at buying new but don't know how to remove or replace 

They are held on simply with a few strips of mastic.

After removing the Sun Visors and stuff and Disengaging the top latches

IIRC

 It has been over a decade, on my Cabbies the trims  were slipped under the rubber seal on the Front, and rears but has a few double sides sticky tapes in the middle.  I think I used WD40 under the Seals to free the trim from the Seals and then carefully used a thin scraper to assist in dislodging the tapes. Carefully Very Carefully… as they are NLA.
