205/60 13

Hi,
Has anyone fitted 205/60 13 tyres instead of 175/70 13 ?

Are there any clearance issues using standard rims and suspension height?

Thanks
Dave

60% of 205mm is 123mm, this will be the tyre height.
So rolling radius will be
13" x 25.4mm = 330.2mm + 2 x 123mm = 576.2mm

70% of 175mm is 122.5mm, this will be the tyre height.
So rolling radius will be
13" x 25.4mm = 330.2mm + 2 x 122.5mm = 575.2mm

So nothing in the rolling radius at all.
I cannot see 30mm of extra tyre width being a problem.

What width are your rims?

Cheers,
Ade

Hi,
Thanks for the reply!
Rims are standard 5.5 x 13 manhole covers
Wanted to keep original rims but with a little bit more rubber to the tarmac.

Back in 1981, my first new car purchase was a Diamond Silver Golf GTi (personally imported from Germany to make it affordable). I wore my way through several sets of tyres and the last couple of sets were 206 60 13- Goodyear Rally Specials and Dunlop SP Rally tyres. There were no clearance issues or speedo errors.
However the difference now is that the range of tyres in this size seem extremely limited, although there are still a number of road/rally options on sale.

They should be fine on those rims then.

Yes, I was running on standard GTI steels rather than alloys.
