Hello the fuel pump relay will be on the fuse board, it is located above the passenger side foot well, the relay has a fuse on it mine has a 16A red fuse, also I realised before the connection on the board behind the relay has come lose, mine is a ceramic fuse board so don't know if it varies to yours

Thanks, mine doesn't have a relay with a fuse anywhere. And the relay specified by VW for fuel pump doesn't have a fuse either. Must be different set up. Yours is a 1600?

Some don't have fuses (earlier do) and some don't prime, however if you take the relay out and bridge (bit of wire stripped on both ends and pushed in will do it ) the two large pins  opposite each other you will find out if your relay is shot, just don't run it like that because dangerous as it won't cut the fuel when the engine isn't running, might get you out of a jam in the future though, leave the wire in your glove box ;)

Thanks, How do I identify the fuel pump relay?
