'89 Clipper - Steering Rack

Can anyone tell me whether the '89 Clipper had factory fitted power steering??

Picked this motor up a couple of weeks ago, and something clearly wrong with steering…..after further inspection it looks like an adapted steering rack has been fitted, so seem to think power steering has been retro fitted very badly!
Any advice very much appreciated                                                            
                                                             
      Also, looking for Haynes Manual on this model, as it seems to span MK1 and MK2… again, any advice?!?

No RHD Mk1 Golfs had factory fitted power steering.
There were some VW approved dealer conversions by Steering Developments, they are few and far between though.
TSR use to do a conversion that used a Nissan Bluebird rack and Mk2 components for the rest of it.

Have you got a picture of it as we would be able to tell you what's fitted.

The Brown Haynes manual covers the cabby to a degree.
