Youngsters beware!
So let me see, thats mot, tax and now insurance that can be clocked instantly by these roadside cameras, so what if you can't get the Tax disc because you can't get the mot? You have nowhere to put the car (off road) so a tow truck comes and takes it away. I'm ok as my car can be put on my private land if it fails the mot, but what about people that have no land ie students?

The title should read 'All beware'
Just been watching BBC1 'Traffic Cops' in Portsmouth .
Very interesting ………Not licenced , can't produce the correct documents with-in 7 days , can't pay the fine ?
Car gets crushed no if's or buts . Says they have crushed 1200 cars in less than 6 months .
Big brother is watching us now more than ever , it pays to be legal .

Not far from where I live there is a width restriction due to a weak bridge and the police were using it to spot check cars. They were out in force and had not 1 but 2 camera equiped vans to read number plates and check details.
What made it all worth while was seeing the double deck car transporter laiden with 'seized vehicles' and the sheepish looking boy racers trying to look cool having just lost there ride.
Mind you, glass houses, stones, I have 17" rims on mine so nuf said.

I take it that it's still ok to drive the car to the MOT station if it's been booked in?
this is the ONLY time I drive my car without tax (and obviously an MOT)

There are too many people who drive with out Tax , Insurance , MOT and even a driving licence . DVLA estimates over 1.5 million .
I fully support the moves to crush those who drive any vehicle with out the above . So the new Police powers mean 'it always pays to be legal'

Yes but it MUST be booked in and you are using a direct route to the garage i.e not going to the shops first.
not only do they take the car for no insurance but give you ?200 fine and 6 points on your licence but if you've just passed in the last 2 years that a ban and retest . no one going to insure you after that 8O

Yeh right!
The laws an ass, they penalize anyone that's normally law abiding.
What about the suckers that pulls off a set of number plates then attaches them to there car or nicks a car, carries on at high speed through a 30 mph limit setting of speeding cameras on the way, then fills up at the petrol station, drives off and does a bank job before torching it? Nah! lets find an easy target and bring the bacon in.
I hope you can count?

the law works in mysterious ways , take the life sentance for example . surely life is until u die . apparently not  . as for people with no tax and mot or licence . most of them dont pay the fines they go to court and say they cant afford it and get let off . im all for the cameras that check up on us all . i am all legal so i never worry about it . i jus get annoyed when police think they can see through walls

Ill agree with the principal of vigourous enforcement but my worry is that the car can be siezed based on what the computer tells em
if anyones tried to MOt their car lately the systems been down and most government systems seem to fall over regularly
IM also not too keen on the trend for summary justice
where does this go next , car crushing for speeding?, it doesnt seem that remote a proposition these days
:dontknow:
think on! :?

I got issued a notice for anti social driving a few months back cos my exhaust and air filter made it sound like i was speeding , so if i get stopped again in 12 months for speeding or dangerous driving etc etc (not a bulb out) they have the right to crush my car or whoevers car i am driving . its rediculous
