Cost me ?300 inc spare engine and other bits. Then getting carried away with a doing a nut and bolt rebuild cost 8O @?6K+ 8O over 18 months. Some of that was for new stuff like an immobiliser etc and some was for service/consumable parts like new tyres and exhaust but still a lot!
Everything?s relative, a new MK5 is ?20K
Anyone bought a cheap one and actually using it all weathers 10,000+ miles a year without spending thousands keeping it on the road?

All this was done by a company so alot of labour charge aswell
Agreed value of ?10000.
Most ive ever spent on any prior to this was about ?500 and once bought a mk1 for ?40 which was actually very good.
Way i see it is that its individual and yes could of gone and bought a new car but would still want a mk1.

Not a mk1, but my mk2 driver cost me ?280 with a years MOT and 6 months tax, and I use that every day. Starts and runs like a dream, and I've spent zero on her so far, although I'll probably service her sometime soon.
