?150 Golf Cabrio.
Was laid up with an MOT (Apparently  )
Folded the hood back for the first time in 7 years, and the hood is soo brittle that the vynil roof cracked and split
Still going to be on the road for the summer…..

Brought my GTi cabriolet about 2 years ago for ?1300, and spent about ?500 on it so far, but needs lots more work still. Currently not on the road although she does have an MOT, so with the nicer weather seemingly on the way I might insure her and tax her next week then wait for something else to break when she goes out for her first drive :?

Mine was ?500 although I have spend far, far more than that so far and its only half way finished! I can't see the point in spending ?7300 on a car, no matter how nice, when a car for ?1000 does more/less the same stuff. Walt, think of the other things you could have bought with the money - like a Thai or Russian bride!!!!

The MK1 Gl Auto that I currently run was free! With only 70 k on the clock. She sat in our garage for 4 yrs and have just put her through her MOT…The essential items cost us prob ?150 inc MOT but we've spent a bit more on new bumpers and headlights. Currently experiencing another prob with her but it shouldnt be an expensive one!
My GX cost us ?50 including a brand new rear valance to put on, a tailgate and a door.

I can claim both extremes at the same time.
Cost me ?300 inc spare engine and other bits. Then getting carried away with a doing a nut and bolt rebuild cost 8O @?6K+ 8O over 18 months. Some of that was for new stuff like an immobiliser etc and some was for service/consumable parts like new tyres and exhaust but still a lot!
Everything?s relative, a new MK5 is ?20K
Anyone bought a cheap one and actually using it all weathers 10,000+ miles a year without spending thousands keeping it on the road?

So far mines cost me about ?12000-?13000  that includes the cost of purchase, rebuild, paint, welding, engine conversion and varios parts etc
All this was done by a company so alot of labour charge aswell
Agreed value of ?10000.
Most ive ever spent on any prior to this was about ?500 and once bought a mk1 for ?40 which was actually very good.
Way i see it is that its individual and yes could of gone and bought a new car but would still want a mk1.

Not a mk1, but my mk2 driver cost me ?280 with a years MOT and 6 months tax, and I use that every day. Starts and runs like a dream, and I've spent zero on her so far, although I'll probably service her sometime soon.

Spent about ?200 on engine & other new parts, ?400 on wheels & tyres, ?400 on suspension / poly bushes / mounts / fitting
All in - ?2700 once painted in a few weeks.
I've only owned the car for 1 month!
