WHERE ARE ALL THE RIVALS NOW ?

Hope no body minds but i came across this page from a 1977 Motor road test , and thought it would be fun for all  to see the competition the Golf faced nearly 27 years ago . where are all the rivals now ? And what a bargain that Vauxhall Viva must have been !  The road test was for the "New 1500 Golf Diesel" hence it being matched with the golf 1100 L . Does any one still have an original Diesel ? The entire 7 page road test is on its way to crazyquiff so it should be posted on the site some time for all of us to read .

Wow hard to believe those cars are from the same time as the golf! Must have been a hard decsison - do I get a 1100 Golf or save up the extra ?100 or so for a 1500 Maxi  8O . Interesting to see that despite beeing the smallest car of the lot the Golf was one of the best for interior space.

I reckon that Golf 1100 L suffered from water in the boot!
